About Play Therapy

What is Play Therapy?

Play is a natural medium of self expression and is essential for healthy development.

Play therapy is a method of helping deal with emotional and behavioural challenges by providing opportunities to 'play out' their feelings and problems in a safe and supportive environment.

How does Play Therapy work?

Play Therapy takes a individual-centred approach allowing  'Play Time' with as few limits as safely possible. A trained therapist observes the play to gain insight into the challenges and/or difficulties they are facing in life.

Throughout 'Play Time' the therapist helps them work through their difficulties and introduce a more positive point of view, tools and strategies which they can transfer to real life situations.

Who is Play Therapy for?

Play Therapy was initially suited for children aged between 3 and 15 years. Using the individual-centred approach and visual aspect of therapy, results show teenagers and adults of all ages greatly benefit from play therapy. Therapy sessions are responsive to the developmental and emotional needs of the individual.
